Your information, and what we do with it

This policy covers the Strategy Pack sign-up form on blockpower.org and any information you share through it. The form is operated by Hub3 Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which prepares and mails the Strategy Pack as a nonpartisan get-out-the-vote resource. blockpower.org is run by Block Power, a 501(c)(4) social-welfare organization and Hub3's partner. Where this policy says "we," it means Hub3 Inc. as the organization responsible for your information.
We never sell, rent, or trade your information. We never hand it to a political campaign, party, candidate, or committee for their own use -- not for a fee, not for free -- unless you specifically tell us to.
What we collect
Only what you type into the Strategy Pack form. That is:
- Your name and email address, so we can reach you.
- Your phone number, if you choose to give it (this one is optional).
- The mailing address you enter -- street, apartment or unit, city, and ZIP -- because the Strategy Pack is a physical packet we send by mail.
- A few organizing details: whether you live in a house or an apartment, roughly how much of your block or building you think you can cover, whether you are in North Carolina, and why you want to do this.
We do not collect anything you don't enter yourself. The form does not ask for a Social Security number, a date of birth, or any payment information, and you should never send those to us.
Why we collect it
- To mail you the Strategy Pack and, where relevant, the precinct maps that go with it.
- To follow up with you about getting started, and to answer questions you raise.
- To understand where interest is coming from so we can plan how many packs to prepare and where.
The Strategy Pack is a nonpartisan voter-education activity carried out by Hub3 Inc. as part of its 501(c)(3) work. The information you share here is used for that purpose -- not for partisan campaigning.
North Carolina is where the program runs today. If you tell us you're somewhere else, we still keep your email so we can let you know if the program reaches your area -- but we can't promise a mailed pack outside the states we currently serve.
Who else touches your information
We keep the number of hands on your data small.
- Typeform hosts the sign-up form and stores your responses on our behalf, under its own privacy and security terms. Your entries go to Typeform first and then to us.
- A postal or fulfillment service handles the physical mailing, which means it receives the name and address needed to deliver your pack -- and nothing more.
These providers act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it to send your Strategy Pack, follow up with you, and keep reasonable records of the program. When it is no longer needed for those purposes, we delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner (see below).
Your choices
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also tell us to stop contacting you at any time. Just email karthik@hub3.us and we'll take care of it.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect the information you share, and we work with providers who do the same. No method of transmission or storage is ever perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security -- but we treat your address and contact details as information to be careful with.
Children
The Strategy Pack sign-up is meant for adults who want to organize their block. It is not directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top. Meaningful changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
